“New to it all”

My Background: Sight set on Ole Miss

Hello, my name is Sherrita Murray, Administrative Assistant at CERE. I was born and raised here in Oxford. As a little girl growing up here, I always wanted to work at The University of Mississippi. My grandmother and parents are die-hard fans, so we had Ole Miss everything growing up. I mean… who doesn’t want to shout, Hotty Toddy?!

My Background: Outside of Work

As a long-time Oxford resident, I’ve discovered all of the best places to spend time in town. My favorite places to eat in Oxford are Oby’s, El Agave, and Pizza Den. I love to cook, sing, and spend time with family. I have two children, Ty and Heaven. My husband, Neil, also works at the university under Oxford University Transit. We recently got married!

My Background: My Professional Experience

I graduated from Oxford High School in 2001 and attended Northwest Community College where I obtained an associate’s degree in Applied Science. In 2011, I began work as a Receptionist in the Department of Student Housing. In 2014, I transferred to athletics where I worked at the FedEx Student Athlete Success Center as an Administrative Secretary and, in 2018, I left the university.

Welcome to CERE

In August of 2021, I came back to the university as an Operations Assistant in the Counseling Center. I saw a job opening here at CERE and applied because of my previous work experience. As of today, I’ve been employed with CERE for about three weeks. Of course, I’m still learning what all takes place here and how the center operates. So far, the tasks I have been given provide me with the opportunity to read up on things that I haven’t necessarily been familiar with prior to working here.

I’m excited about this new journey and working with the amazing staff members here. It also feels great to be a part of a center that has so much knowledge and information and makes a positive impact on everyone’s daily life through research and evaluation. I’m looking forward to learning more and being able to be help lighten the administrative tasks of other staff members through my work. I expect to elevate my level of knowledge and exposure here at CERE with the administrative functions that I will be taking care of.

I am excited to be a part of the CERE family, Hotty Toddy!
